I am a high school junior who wants to help. I first learned about malaria when I was in middle school. I briefly lived and attended school in Guatemala and had to take malaria pills for a couple of months. It was annoying, but nothing I was overly concerned about back then. My research into Tu Youyou for the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes competition changed how I see malaria. I spent months digging into her story for my documentary, and the more I learned, the more I understood how devastating malaria is for certain parts of the world, particularly for young children in Africa. more >>
